かっこよすぎる科学室のような風貌を持つWalter’s Coffee Roastery。ブルックリンによくあるトレンディなカフェとは一味違います。　実はここ、美味しいコーヒーを作る為に最適なお湯の温度や、エスプレッソマシーンの圧力などを研究しつくした、まさにコーヒーを科学したカフェなのです。　その独自性は、以前ご紹介したCoffee Festivalでも人々の注目を集めていました。

Walter’s Coffee Roastery is bit different from other trendy Brooklyn coffee shops. Walter’s isn’t just a café; it’s also a laboratory. In order to make a perfect cup of joe, the baristas Walter’s employs have studied to perfect extraction, brew temperature, espresso machine pressure, etc.　Their originality attracted people’s attention at the Coffee Festival, too.

彼らのコンセプトは店内にもしっかりと反映されています。壁には化学記号をモチーフとしたメニューがディスプレイされていますし、アイスコーヒーは店内で水出しされ、ビーカーで提供されるという徹底ぶりです。

The decorations also reflects this “Coffee laboratory” concept.  You’ll find menus with chemical symbols motifs and even iced coffee is served with a beaker. How exhaustive is that?

また、創立されたのはイスタンブールで、NYの他に支店があるのはドバイという、なんとも国際的なカフェでもあります。　ご存知の方もいらっしゃるとは思いますが、中東のコーヒーもかなり歴史があり、美味なのです。　オーナーがコーヒーを研究し、カフェをオープンしたのも、そんな中東のコーヒーに惹かれたのがきっかけだったそうですよ。

Walter’s was founded in Istanbul and has branches in NY and Dubai. In case you aren’t already aware, the Middle East has a long history with coffee and this was one of the reasons their owner first began studying coffee.

さてさて、肝心のコーヒーのお味はというと、とても滑らか！ 雑味がなくて私は好きです。　メニューをみても分かるように、様々なコーヒードリンクのメニューがありますので、色々と試して下さいね。美味しいコーヒーを、バリスタが更に魅力的にしてくれます。

But most importantly, the baristas at Walter’s make smooth and delicious coffee. They offer a variety of drinks, so please make sure to try more than just one.

In addition to the good drinks, I like the location. The Bushwick neighborhood in Brooklyn is currently turning to unique area and you can find arts everywhere. It’s very interesting to walk around.
